Boy, i'm getting worse at this blog thing. So it's been alitte while since my last post and I apologize to all of you. All, 0 of you, but it's ok. I'll be famous one day, you'll see.
So, where to start? I'll just go back a few months. This might be a long post, recapping April to now. Well, I quit my job at Home Depot alittle while back. I just didn't feel called to be there and I feel like it was hurting my job at the church. So, now I'm just working at the church doing the graphic and video stuff and Andy has asked me to take over middle school ministy so i'm really stoked about that. Nervous, but stoked. Kevin and I have really been working on the homeless thing alot lately and the site is up so feel free to check that out. Direct Connect Charlotte.
Dad and I moved to downtown Charlotte and I love it. It's so cool to be near the people that I consider my heart (the homeless). Im just stoked about the liftoff date and when we really start that up. I think God is going to do some awesome things through this ministry.
The youth group and Journey went to Lee University a few weeks ago for a conference called CIY. It was alot of fun and I think all the kids took something away with them. On returning I talked to our pastor about the church starting its own homeless ministry. We help out with an outreach called Charlotte Rescue Mission where they take in people and put them back on their feet. So im working on getting all that situated out. So, say a prayer about that stuff that God is seen through these ministries and that lives are changed.
Kevin and I are moving in together so DCCharlotte will kind of have an office and im really excited about that. I'm ready to be on my own. I dont know what dad will say but its just one of those things that has to happen.
Ive been getting really involved with a bible study at my friend Andrews and for the first time I really have people who keep me accountable on things. Its just refreshing to know that I have people I can trust with anything.
Theres a blog that ive really been paying attention to called Stupid Church People and its really cool, I mean, well you'll have to see for yourselves. Stupid Church People. It's just one of those sites that challenges me as a Christian and makes me think of certain things.
The intern at our church this summer, Mike, and I have been doing this thing where we try and see everyone through a live filter and see them the way Christ does. I know that there are a handful of people that I dont necessarily like but God loves them and I need to try and focus on their good attributes, so thats hard. And then were also trying to really watch what we say. If we dont think it would come out of Christs mouth, then we dont need to say it. I was gone all last month on different trips. First, our leadership team went to Chicago for the Willow Creek Arts Conference. It was awesome. I learned alot and heard some amazing speakers. Donald Miller is my favorite speaker right now. He explains things in the most amazing ways. Then the band and I went to a week of camp and Park Springs. That was alot of fun and the kids were great. The pool was broken so we made our own water slide which was probably illegal on many levels, but it was fun and noone got hurt, so oh well. I got home from that on Friday and left early early Saturday morning for Indiana where I helped a friend from school out with another week of camp. This one was for middle schoolers and it was so cool. We only had 12 kids and so it was really easy to connect with them. These kids have big hearts and the things they deal with these days are scary. I did that for a week and then left for KY where mom lives and hung with her for a week. So, now im home and so happy to be here. Its been a busy summer but im ready for the kids to get back in school so that Andy and I can get into em' and start meetin all the kids and do our best to show the love of Christ.
I bought new jeans today, and im happy with my purchase. Hopefully the ladies will be too :)
Good day!
